Product Description:

An explosion rips through New York City's Grand Central Station one morning, destroying the train Karen Friedman's husband, a successful hedge fund manager, is riding in to work. Days later, with many bodies still unidentifiable, Karen resigns herself to the awful truth: her husband of eighteen years is dead.

On that same day, a suspicious hit-and-run accident leaves a young man dead in Karen's hometown of Greenwich, Connecticut. Ty Hauck, a detective, becomes emotionally caught up in the case and finds a clue that shockingly connects the two seemingly unrelated events.

Months later, two men show up at Karen's home digging into Charles's business dealings. Hundreds of millions of dollars are missing—and the trail points squarely to Charles. With doubt suddenly cast on everything she has ever known, Karen, with Hauck, steps into a widening storm of hedge fund losses, international scams, and murder. And as the investigations converge, these two strangers touched by tragedy are pulled into a deepening relationship and unwittingly open the door to a twisted—and deadly—conspiracy.

With its breakneck pacing, plentiful twists, compelling characters, and abundant heart, The Dark Tide confirms Andrew Gross's place as a master storyteller at the top of his game.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Superb thriller
Life changed in an instant for Karen Friedman. An explosion in New York has left her husband, Charlie, dead and Karen now has to cope with her grief while raising their two children. But things aren't as they seem... on the same day as Charlie's death, a hit and run accident leaves a young man dead, with a note leading Lieutenant Ty Hauck to Karen. Ty isn't the only one asking questions, and Karen soon finds that the situation is escalating as everything she knows and everyone she loves may be at risk. Can Karen and Ty uncover the truth?

Wow, Andrew Gross has written a page turner for sure! I had to resist sneaking a peek at the end to see how everything would turn out as Mr. Gross keeps the reader constantly on edge. This is definitely one of those books you just can't put down once you start.

The character development is superb. Karen's pain seems so real that it was hard not to feel her pain. Her grief rips through the pages and reaches into the soul of the reader. Ty's pain is also very real, although not as recent and therefore not as searing. Andrew Gross does a beautiful job at showing that time does ease grief although the scars that remain behind may always be there, just not as openly as when grief is fresh.

The storyline about money and the evil it can cause is as old as time itself. However, Andrew Gross makes it seem fresh and smoothly makes ties to the current day events in a thought provoking manner. As the story unfolds, Andrew Gross offers a glimpse of just how far some people will go... and it's a scary glimpse!

THE DARK TIDE is a superb thriller. Andrew Gross offers up a thoroughly satisfying read!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - COULD NOT PUT DOWN..............
I found this book to be ...a no put down ....cant wait for his subsequent BOOK....the Blue Zone was great also...I think us mystery readers have found....another....writer that will be on our FAVOITE author list....along with Robert Crais Harlen Coben James Patterson....and Thomas Perry....and last but not least Lisa Scottoline.....

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - FANTASTIC!
From the very first chapter you are totally hooked - it was engaging from the start and never stopped. A must read for any fan of suspense!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Unexpected plot twists
This is the second novel Andrew Gross has written on his own. He's normally partnered with James Patterson. His books are well written, the only problem is you read them so fast and need to wait so long for the subsequent one.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - My low expectations were met
I listened to this as an audio book. I never would have bothered to read it in its bound form. I set the bar lower for audio books because the selection of unabridged recordings is so limited I find myself listening to novels I would never bother to read. I had low expectations for this novel and Gross met them.

I'm not going to belabour this. The writing itself is very weak, filled with awkward sounding dialogue, cheesy clichéd similes, a plodding, predictable story line, and huge gaping holes in the plot. This is marginal entertainment at best. Not as terrible as some of his mentor's recent efforts (the prolific James Patterson), but only worth reading if you read so many novels a year that you'll read just about anything. 2 ½ stars.
