Department of Justice operative, Miranda Tyler must hide the daughter of a witness in a high profile murder case. To do so, she leaves Washington, D.C. and goes home to Atlanta, Ga. Miranda's brother was recently in an automobile accident and her return home to care for him sets up the perfect alibi. Her only reservation is the fact that home means reconnecting with the man who broke her heart.
Caleb Blackfoot was born with the proverbial silver spoon and as such, when they were dating, Miranda felt she was just another easy conquest. She caught Caleb with a female rival, and although Caleb claimed his innocence, Miranda left Atlanta. Ten years later Caleb, now a doctor, is one of the city's most eligible bachelors, but no other woman has claimed his heart. Miranda's return is just what the doctor ordered, and Caleb is determined to win her back, even if it means revealing the culprit behind their breakup. Miranda is the only woman who made him want something permanent.
THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU is a reminder of how we cannot out run destiny. Ms. Weaver gives readers a strong sense of heart over mind. The characters gingerly fight the battle of growing up on different sides of the tracks. However the story did not focus on class issues, it lent more to allowing yourself to believe in love, to take a chance, and boldly reach for the brass ring. This is a good summer read.
