Editor's Notes and Comments:

Brief Book Summary:
What do a New York City dog trainer and a pro hockey player have in common? They both love Stanley, an adorable but naughty Newfoundland...

When dog trainer Delilah Gould spots a rambunctious Newfoundland disobeying orders, she can't help but stepping in and teaching the gentle giant to heel. But it's his hunky owner she's really like to teach a few tricks. Too bad he's clearly the untrainable kind.

Professional hockey player Jason Mitchell is thrilled when he's traded to the New York Blades--the team of his dreams. There's just one problem: his pooch isn't adjusting to city life too well. Good thing he crosses paths with dog trainer Delilah Gould. At least that's what he thinks--until he realized he's fallen for her.

Now, with the season heating up, Jason realizes he'll have to score big-time to win the Stanley Cup and the woman who had tamed his dog and unleashed his heart.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Adorable romantic love story!
I just adored this little book. It was sooo cute and sweet. This was my very first Deirdre book and I was pleasantly surprised, and glad I went all out and bought it.

Maybe I like this book soo much because I myself happened to think I may suffer a bit from social anxiety, sooo, when Delilah was describing how she felt anxious around strangers or big crowds I sympathized with her. I did think that her hunky bf judged her too hard, and overreacted when she went haywire about the dog being tied in the basement. Having a dog in a basement tied up with no water and with poop everywhere is horrible, so she was in her right to act indignant. Highly recommended!

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Similar Plot Lines
Usually when writing a review you'd start off with an outline of the novel, but seeing as how the plot here seems to mirror a couple of Deirdre's other novels I've decided to forgo the plot synopsis.

I've run into a problem with Deirdre's books it's one I'd hope not to find since I rather enjoyed the novels in Ms. Martins series. To me it seems as if many of her books parallel each other, there's usually (but not always, so please refrain from jumping all over me if you disagree) one main character ashamed of a quality found in the other character and they usually break up about 3/4's of the way through the book.

After reading all of the books she's published so far I've begun feeling as if I'm reading a novel with the same characters and plot just tweaked slightly. Now this doesn't mean that Chasing Stanley isn't a cute, sigh inducing book because it is, I found myself loving the adorable Newfie. So if reoccurring themes and characters aren't a problem for you then this is another good read from Deirdre Martin.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Not one of Deirdre Martin's best!
I have to say I was disappointed in "Chasing Stanley". The romance was cute at very first but then started being very repetitive and annoying. The dog Stanley was cute but he even got old after awhile. I also have to say I absolutely hated the ending! Ugh! I won't ruin it by saying what it is but it is far from being romantic. Highly recommend her other books to this one. Don't waste your money.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Don't see why only Delilah has to change
Lots of people don't do so well in a crowd, especially an unfamiliar one. Ok, Delilah babbles a bit and is a little inadept at carrying on a conversation, but I find that much better than being sarcastic and overbearing, or plain spiteful. She gets along fine, once she gets to know people. She had no problem telling Eric what she thought.
In the end, her lack of social skills is considered a "problem", something to be treated! What's wrong with wanting to stay home and enjoying a peaceful evening together? Where's the idea of loving and accepting someone for what they are? The only reason this book gets 4 stars from me is 'cos I love "doggie" books.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Cute and Love-able
This book was very cute and full of what we've all come to expect from Martin.

The main characters Deliah Gould and Jason Mitchell are an adorable couple that have to overcome the usual problems. Yet Deliah's nagging was wearing thin by page 100. I just don't get how anyone could possibly be that annoying and miss. know-it-all.

Other than that the book was a great story that would have anyone begging for more.
