Product Description:
When a horrifying attack leaves one of the four members of the Women's Murder Club struggling for her life, the others fight to keep a madman behind bars before anyone else is hurt. And Lindsay Boxer and her new partner in the San Francisco police department run flat-out to stop a series of kidnappings that has electrified the city: children are being plucked off the streets together with their nannies--but the kidnappers aren't demanding ransom. Amid uncertainty and rising panic, Lindsay juggles the possibility of a new love with an unsolvable investigation, and the knowledge that one member of the club could be on the brink of death. And just when everything appears momentarily under control, the case takes a terrifying turn, putting an entire city in lethal danger. Lindsay must make a choice she never dreamed she'd face--with no certainty that either outcome has more than a prayer of success.

User popularity level: out of 5 stars

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - How did the publisher get so stupid as to accept this?
This book gets 1 star because I don't know how to review witout giving at least one. What happened to Patterson? He was never a deep writer, never will, I hope, rank as a writer of American classiscs, but this is far below his usual medocrity. Maybe it's the second author; maybe she is really the ghost writer of this novel.

Besides the plot being almost non-existent, the characters are mere cardboard cutouts unable to stand alone. There are apparently a number of books in the "Women's Murder Club" series. Possibly if one has read all of these the characters are more real. Such reading probably dulls the mind so that this book has no effect.

The "novel" has 136 chapters. Perfect for the attention deficit reader. The crimes covered by the heroine, a woman with two dimensions perfect for Hollywood or the tube, are neither connected to the "plot" nor the movement of the text.

Do I regret buying this used book for fifty cents to assuage my boredom while sitting in a hospital waiting room? No. What I regret is reading the whole thing (without the benefit of an Alka-seltzer). My only defense is I'm stubborn. If you can get this for less than a dollar and really need something to numb your mind go ahead and get this.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Started the Series with this book
A friend from work recommended this one, even though I had not read any of the earlier books in the series. I really enjoyed the interaction between the four women, and found myself asking questions about the four women.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Love the Women's Murder Series
This is as great as the rest of the series. I am looking forward to reading the 7th soon.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Lotsa Murder Going Here
It seems like every time I go online there is a new James Patterson book out there. So many that many slip past me, like the whole Woman's Murder Club series. However, a couple weeks ago I read Seventh Heaven and I really liked it, so I went out and got this one, I guess I'll read them backwards. And in case you don't know, the Woman's Murder Club is made up of San Francisco Detective Lindsay Boxer, Assistant D.A. Yuki Castellano, Medical Examiner Claire Washburn and Reporter Cindy Thomas. In this one we have three story lines going at once, all interesting.

The book opens with wacko Fred Brinkley firing six shots at passengers on a ferry. Four people die and Murder Club Member Claire Washburn is wounded. Brinkley is quickly arrested, but is he sane, Yuki is going to try awfully darned hard to prove he is.

Meanwhile person or persons unknown are kidnapping rich kids and their nannies. The nannies turn up without a pulse, but the children are kept by the nefarious bad guys, who warn the families that their darlings will remain alive and unharmed as long as they don't go to the cops.

And meanwhile again, there are problems a brewing in Cindy's new apartment building. Some one dispatches a dog there, sending him off to doggie heaven. Of course, a dead dog isn't enough to satisfy the killer, so he moves on up to killing the tenants. Think Cindy will find a story here?

Okay, so there you have it, three mysteries to wrap your mind around. Is it too much for one book? Not on your life. Mr. Patterson and Ms. Paetro pulled me right on in, held my interest, kept my finger turning those pages. This is a good book. I'm a big fan of Patterson's earlier work and it seems Maxine Paetro has put him right back on track. You won't go wrong with this one.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Love These Murder Club Girls
I know that this series doesn't rate very high with most people, but I really enjoy it. Each character has their own voice and style, with a definite feel of who they are.

The story begins with a mass shooting on the ferry where one of the Murder Club's own is left struggling for her life and if that's not enough there is a rash of child prodigy kidnapping- but no ransom demands that leaves Boxer and the department stupefied. Not only that, but Lindsey has now been demoted, which isn't quite what she wanted and a personal life in turmoil.

I enjoy the multiple storylines that have you bouncing back and forth with little tidbits thrown in that keep you wondering along the way. The "who-done-its" are easy to see and the "why's" aren't too complicated, but the way they bounce back and forth are what kept me reading.

Oh, and there is a nice little surprise near the end that will be interesting to see how it unfolds. Just love these Murder Club girls.
