Do you like hockey? Well if you do then the book Brady, Brady and The Runaway Goalie by Mary Shaw and Chuck Temple is a great book for you. I chose to read the book because it had an interesting title and it was a hockey book. It is about a boy named Brady and another boy named Chester. They love hockey they play for a team called the Ice Hogs. They are playing against nasty team called the Dragoons. The whole team was in the locker room right before the game and guess what they were missing? Chester their goalie. I think you should never be scared and always do your best. Did they find Chester and did they win? Well you have to read the book to find out what happened.

The Dragoons were the chippiest players in the league. While most teams practiced very hard and tried to win by being good, the Dragoons won games by hitting their opponents while the referee's back was turned or spraying snow in the goalie's face. No one liked to play against the Dragoons.
It's no wonder that when the Icehogs were scheduled to play against the un defeated Dragoons, they were nervous. No one wanted to get hurt. Everyone just wanted to have fun and play some good hockey.
Of all the Icehogs, Chester the goalie was the most nervous. He knew how the Dragoons played and wanted the Icehogs to win. But in order to beat the Dragoons, they'd have to have a great goalie. Chester wasn't so sure that he could do the job.

If you have a young hockey fan in your house, this Canadian children's book series is charming. Best for kids preschool to early elementary, these are simple stories about a little boy who's so crazy about hockey that they have to say his name twice to get his attention. While the adventures all involve his youth hockey team, the Icehogs, they are really about friendship, teamwork, and the everyday troubles of typical grade school kids - Brady Brady always seems to have just the right solution for his team mates. Even though they aren't great literature, my 4 and 5 year old love them and want to hear them over and over.
