Lamont be my government, but Hood be my name. I earned my stripes chilling up in Fat Daddy's joint, a Brownsville barbershop in the belly of Brooklyn. Some called me a street savior...others said I was just another Brownsville boy gone bad. Whatever. I brung it and I took it too. But when it was all said and done, I walked away with a lesson learned in street loyalty: ain't no need in looking over your shoulder in this game. Because your real enemies ain't aiming at your back. They lunging straight for your heart. Ya dig?

Lamont 'Hood' Mason is a fearless nineteen-year-old gangsta who was born and raised in the projects of Brooklyn, New York. He was an abandoned child who roamed the cold city streets and fought hard for survival. The only thing constant in his young life was the safety of a Brownsville barbershop owned by a father figure called Fat Daddy.

The barbershop is where Hood comes of age, but cutting hair isn't the only thing Fat Daddy has going on. His daughter, Egypt, is the love of Hood's young life, and the one person whose dreams of a stable future can lead him off the grimy urban corners and out of the hustling life.

But when Fat Daddy gets caught slippin and crosses paths with Xanbar, a notoriously brutal drug kingpin, his vices threaten to bring death down on the family Hood loves. In an effort to protect his own, Hood and his best friend and hustling partner, Dreko, take to the streets on a bloody mission that doesn't go exactly as planned. Hood returns to find his world turned upside down by a wave of sex, violence, and betrayal. No longer the starving kid on the street, he's now a man seeking vengeance and retribution, and he might be forced to choose between bending or breaking as he picks up the shattered pieces of his life, one by one.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Better than all the rest
Hood is Noire's best work if you ask me. I loved it! Hood's story was heart wrenching and Egypt poor Egypt. She was so darn weak. I'm glad that Hood didn't take her back in the end. I won't give away too much but if you have not read this then you are making a big mistake. It was awesome. So different from her other books. She kept it all the way hood in this joint. Go get it.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Just your average boyz in the hood novel
I have read better & I have read much worse. After reading "Hood" I realized that this book could have been so much better if it had better character developement, paid much more attention to character details and did'nt move so fast.Dont get me wrong I love a book that moves fast, it keeps me interested, but if it moves to fast the author can leave out so many details that you feel cheated at the end of the book. This book is still a good decent read. The main character "Hood" did his thing, held it down from the begining to the end.His girlfriend "Egypt" was on her way out of the hood, but the presures of life & her addiction to crack ruined all her dreams."Egypts" girlfriend "Zena" was dealt a very bad hand in life, she gets turned out sexually by "Dreko" her slimey low life baby's daddy, gets strung out on crack, then as if things cant get any worse for this poor girl she contracts the HIV virus."Zenas" brother "Sackie" did everything he could do to save his sister & neice,by doing so he lost his life to her boyfriend "Dreko" And speaking of "Dreko" who I saved for last on purpose,he was nothing more then a perverted undercover homo thug who should burn in hell forever. What he put Egypt,Zena & Sackie through was bad enough, but what he allowed to happen to his baby daughter was so unforgivable I wont even mention it,you have to read this book to find out for yourself.I gave this book 3 stars, dont let that fool you, that's just my personal opinion.Hats off & mad props to "Noire" the author.Enough about this book,I'm out of here until my subsequent book review..."THE BROOKLY BOOKWORM"

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Hood
This book was the $$$$. This is one of the best books I've ever read in my life. I could not put it down. Although it should not be called hood. This is a good hood book. Dreko is a beast. I will not even lend this book out, I'm making everyone go buy it. Norie is all that. I thought that G-Spot was something but the author really out done herself.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Being Hood in the Hood
Noire pens a tale that wrestles with this reader's emotions. As usual she scribes a story that is so descriptive and vivid that the reader shivers. Take this journey with Lamont and Moo and watch how Lamont transforms into "Hood." The path that Hood must travel is a rocky one but he can stand the test... or can he? Meet Dreko, Egypt, Fat Daddy, Zena and Sackie. Travel with them in their hood and see if they deserve the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...for certain there are some storms in their world. Will there be room for love to flourish and possibly grow? Or is this garden full of weeds? Weeds that possibly must be plucked and destroyed one by one. Well, the story can only be told one page at a time, Norie's way.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - A Huge Turn Off!!!!!!
I couldn't even finish this book because I was sickened at the sexual details of young children. It includes underage sex also coupled with gay sex. I don't really want to read about 9 year olds.... Nothing I can relate too...or would want too. She could have started them out a little later in age with all the raunchiness. Sorry Noire, you missed it with this one.
