Let's face facts -- you're not going to be buying this if your religious tenants revolve around images of "feather puffs and baby Jesus." So, when I read about this, I knew I'd dig the concept and fully expected it to be a little -- if not a lot -- off colour in terms of its humor. Which is exactly why I bought it. I knew that would make it an enjoyable read, and it was every bit the blasphemous guilty pleasure that I hoped for.
The book and storyline are well-conceived, and the art is nothing short of stellar. While I think that some more development could have been done with a few characters, Jesus primarily, the time and work that Chinsang and Crosland spend making John the Baptist a key player more than makes up for it (and who's to say that there's not room for additional publications in this franchise? Those that might have been slighted in this effort certainly could get some play down the line). I only gave this four stars, simply because I see more potential for growth. As a stand alone effort, though, the book is very first class.
All in all: buy it, and you'll probably consider it money well spent. (Plus, it'll give you something to read as you're riding the bus to hell.)

Writing Heaven and Hell as corporations is such a brilliant concept. Chinsang takes characters we already know and makes them unbelievably hilarious and Crosland's illustrations are outstanding. READ IT NOW!
