Brief Book Summary:
Peace and Harmony. Two words that recognizably go hand in hand. Add music to the mix-and you've created a powerful trio that fashions the foundation for understanding how to achieve the goals of the Mideast peace process. In The Jubliee Prophecy, Aaron Cohen shows that with a combined political and cultural approach, peacemakers can win the hearts and minds of everyday people. In this non-sectarian work, we are presented with a vision for understanding the Arab/Israeli conflict-and more. The proof is unveiled within the surprising unity of musical structure, scientific theory, mathematics and mysticism, history and prophetic visions, and even in stellar myths. The author states that instead of living out the dark fantasy of conflicting political and religious interests to serve an apocalypse over Jerusalem, we can actualize peace for both humankind and the earth by observing and practicing the dynamics of this unity. Whatever you political and religious views are, The Jubliee Prophecy is an original and entertaining testament to the understanding and mystical power of peace through music.

The idea of "understanding peace through music" is a wonderful concept that is not necessarily a new one. The Author is coming from a historical perspective including religious and political background information that- as a Music Person like myself- was helpful, as a lot was new information to me. The book is very informative for people coming from a similar perspective to mine, which is a general interest in Music and a desire to study historical links to music with activism. The book does not bring resolution or peace to warring countries, but is more of a theoretical mind expansion using historical facts.

This book was recommended by a colleague who convinced me to pre-order it. I was looking forward to reading about the potential for 'unity through music' in a most tumultuous region of the world that has seen decades of hatred and bloodshed. The author's claim that peace and unity between Israelis and Palestinians can be achieved through music seems a little far fetched, if not a little vague as to how exactly this can manifest itself.
There is no doubt that the author is well versed in theological philosophies given his credentials. However, it would have been far more beneficial for the book (and reader) if he incorporated a more linear story line. This project appears to have started with the right intentions, but fell short of delivering a sound agenda to his theory.
This book comprises of idealistic ramblings of an impassioned and pretentious philanthropist. More of an autobiography really than an academic study. I pray for peace in the Middle East just as much as the subsequent person, and I admire Mr. Cohen's efforts in bringing this book together. But I had far greater expectations for this book, and I regret to say that I shall be returning it for a refund.
