Product Description:

'I'm beginning to think the island wants to keep us here.'

It was supposed to be an adventure. A little time off to honor the memory of a friend and complete a service project in the tropics. Do good deeds while getting a tan.

But when a storm rocks their plans, five long-time friends from college find themselves hurled onto a desolate island, and relief fades to fear. Here nature rules with a vengenance. The lone shelter from raw conditions is a sinister cave. Are they victims of a bizarre psychological experiment? Or could this godforsaken place have the power to maroon them forever?

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Be prepared to face your hidden self.....
If you are not a avid Christian fiction reader and you're not looking for change in your life, then this book may not be for you.

WOW, Angela Hunt has done it again.......she is a beautiful story teller who always has a way of making you do a little bit of soul searching. I saw a lot of myself in her characters. As usual, I cried at the end when I realized how symbolic this book is and it should be a wake up call to everyone.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - A Great Story!
What a great story. Angela Hunt writes in such a way that makes me feel like I'm there. In this case, I'm very glad to not be there!

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - not a Christian viewpoint
Uncharted
I have been an avid fan of Angela Hunt's books and greatly anticipated reading this book. As usual the author has a well written book with excellent characterization. It was hard to put down and I read it at one sitting. But I was disappointed because I expected a Christian perspective, which the book does not have.
The author's intent I think, is to show the sinfulness of mankind and our ignorance of the hidden motives of our hearts. This she does very dramatically; but the ending leaves the reader in total darkness and despair. Because of this, I would not classify it in the Christian genre, but rather in the Mystery/Fantasy category.
Christianity is more than just a moral code that we must adhere to or else; that is Judaism. Christianity is a story of ultimate Salvation, offered to every person, no matter how great or how little their sin.
It is received by faith in Christ and must be freely accepted or clearly rejected. This was not presented as an option for the characters. As a Christian it left me depressed and shaken, and I would not recommend this book to anyone hoping for and expecting an uplifting Christian book.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A Haunting Tale
I picked up this book based on the review that compared it to Lost, Castaway and the Great Divorce among other things. On the basis of that review I was disapointed. The style of writing was different than what I expected it to be; however, on its own it is a great book.

After very first reading the book I was going to rate it four stars because of a few flaws in the story. After a few weeks have gone by I have changed my review to a five star rating. This book has stuck with me and I find myself contemplating its messages and thinking through the story and how it impacts my life. As I belive this is exactly what the author intended this book to do I think it deserves a full five stars.

I loved the set up of the book. Angela Hunt does a spectacular job at creating the characters and making them interesting. Once the action began it lost some of that flavor and I didn't enjoy it as much. It became too similar in tone to other stories about people on a deserted island as the masks the characters wore started to slip.

The ending is haunting. That is what stuck with me all this time. It was not the shock other reviews proclaimed it to be. It's pretty easy to figure out if you are looking for a "surprise" ending. Knowing the ending doesn't detract from the book. It is the message in the ending that makes you think and evaluate your life. A book that is able to do that has done its job.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - More than meets the eye. . .
This book left me trembling. I went in expecting every character's situations to be resolved and nicely tidied, but was I frightfully mistaken. I did not expect this story, but it was an awesome read. It was full of mystery and intrigue.
THe characters represent people we know, are or were. It is both interesting and heartbreaking to see them faced with themselves. For those who are up for it, hang on until the end. You will be shocked, but not disappointed. By the way, Angela Hunt writes Christian novels. Please, choose not to be offended when you happen to read one of her stories and find they are filled with spiritual allusions, scriptures, evangelism, etc.
