Product Description:
Written for wine lovers who want to discover more about the places where wine is made, this book conveys the ambience, unique features, vineyards, villages and cuisine of 24 wine-producing regions in France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina and Chile. Each story - accompanied by a map - takes the reader on a tour of a particular region, visiting towns, villages, vineyards and cellars along the way. Photographs convey the scenic grandeur, vistas and architectural aspects of the vineyards and their surrounds. Fact panels provide concise information on the chief grapes of the region, leading wines and producers, main centres, best times of the year to visit and a quick summary of the tour.

There really isn't a lot of meat here... It's an oversize (30cm x 26cm), coffee-table book on some of the major wine regions of the world. It should be noted that the book is only 168 pages and is big on fluff. There are many nice full-page photos of wineries accompanied by some basic information about each of the 24 wine regions covered, best times to visit, etc. Its intent is really to inspire the reader to travel to these places. The content seems to be directed more at the scenery than any real analysis of the regions, but if a picture book on wine regions is what you're looking for, this might be the book for you. If instead you're looking for a more in-depth atlas on wine regions, I'd go with the acclaimed World Atlas of Wine by Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson.
