The concept sounds great. Kids, especially boys, like to compete. If you give them a drill or game that has no way to keep score, it is hard for them to keep their intensity. When there is a way to keep score and compete, you will get the intensity needed to sharpen their skills. Unfortunately, about 90% of the games in this book suffer from either or both of two really major problems: (1) A very complicated game, with lots of setup time (gobs of cones all over the place) and lots of explanation time to get the kids to perform the umpteen steps of the drill; and/or (2) kids standing in line waiting their turn to enter the game area and get their foot on a ball. You can get some use out of a few of the games without modification. Otherwise, you will have to redesign the drills yourself to simplify them and get more kids active at once. You might as well write your own book at that point.
I am planning to donate my copy to the coaches' library at my soccer club, but not before I write a big warning message inside the front of it, so that inexperienced coaches don't unwittingly torment their players.
