I have had a lot free time on my hands recovering from back damage and surgery and thought I would return to my artistic roots in a variety of ways, one of which is sewing and modifying clothing. Yet the books I ordered recently from Amazon (this is one of many for variety sake), were all disappointing. All are geared to those beginning in the sewing arts or for those with little to no personal creativity. I would definitely place this book in that category. HOWEVER, for those beginning in this mode of making old clothes "new" again, this may be the book for you. But don't do it my way...purchase one, try things and if you like it and need more encouragement if you are without, purchase another book for additional ideas and personal/sewing/modification growth. Good luck to beginners!

This is a lovely book. Deals with stuff to wear. Ten techniques are explained (trimming, beading, colour manipulation among others) and then three projects for each technique are given, each progressively more advanced. I'd wear everything in this book. Cool ideas, stylish and hip without being unwearable even if you're quite conservative. No jeans turned into skirts here.
