Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A price worth paying for the Cost of this Commitment
This was an absolute jewel of a find. I purchased part one of the series due to a recomendation by Amazon, they could not have been more on target. This book, part two just shows that love is definetly everlasting. I found the story line to be believeable, and being a hopeless romantic, it touched me deeply. The author leaves no stone unturned, giving you mistery, suspense, drama and love all bound in a neat little package all the while leaving room for an on going story. The love senes are hot, and the suspense is action packed, and what makes it perfect is the main characters could be people you know. Looking forward to the subsequent book.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Rollercoaster Quality
The pros... I like the story lines presented by Lynn Ames in the Kate/Jay series. They are interesting, keep the reader's attention, and present factual places and things. The characters of Kate and Jay are likable and lead interesting, yet almost unbelievable, lives. The romance is central to the story and is a great compliment to the intrigue presented throughout the book.

The cons... Although the story line is good, the author's writing is shallow and repetitive. The characters are not 3-dimensional. In fact, although Kate and Jay are initially presented as strong women, they actually seem to suffer from low self esteem. This is evident in the way they interact with each other as well as with other characters in the book. In addition, the author takes almost too many liberties with the legal boundaries and political situations in the book.

This is an enjoyable read a rollercoaster-like quality. What I mean is there are both high quality (well-written) and low quality portions of text. Even with the inconsistencies, I think the pros outweigh the cons and I'm actually looking forward to reading 'The Value of Valor' in the subsequent few weeks.

The bottom line... If you liked 'The Price of Fame' you'll probably like 'The Cost of Commitment.'

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Suspenseful! Dramatic!
Katherine "Kate" Kyle and Jamison "Jay" Parker are two strong, dynamic women very first introduced to readers in the dramatic book, The Price of Fame. As they try to recover from Kate's unexpected departure from her news anchor position, Jay and Kate unfortunately find themselves, once again, embroiled in a situation fraught with danger, suspicion and intrigue.

As she tries to settle into her new life with Jay, Kate is continously hounded by the press who are hell bent on learning the identity of the "mystery woman" Kate was captured on film kissing. Will they be able to continue to hide that Jay is the woman in the picture? Or will they be forced into taking their private life more public?

In the meantime, Kate has taken the position of Director of Public Information for the New York State Department of Correctional Services. A position she was hand picked for by the Governor of New York. Now it seems someone again wants Kate out - out of her job and out of the way. Why? And how far are they willing to go to make that happen?

Kate and Jay's love for each other survived someone's previous endeavor at destroying their happiness. Will the strength of the bond between the two women be enough to survive yet another or will they both learn - the hard way - what the cost of commitment could be?

The extremely talented author of The Price of Fame continues to display her skill at writing in this roller coaster of a ride sequel. The Cost of Commitment is a dynamic, suspenseful, and danger-filled tale of life, love, and the trials that come with both. You will definitely find it difficult to put the book down and very much tempted to peek at the ending!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Entertaining thriller sequel to the romance 'The Price of Fame'

Totally absorbing thriller/romance. Not a light weight novel at almost 300 pages. This is a substantial read and you will be surprised at the many twists in the plot.

The characters are strong but not fallible which makes them all the more real.

Although not required to enjoy this story this is the second in a three novel series 'The Price of Fame' is the very first and the 'Value of Valor' takes place after this story.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Entertaining Right Up to the Last Page
When last we saw Katherine "Kate" Kyle and her partner Jamison "Jay" Parker in the previous book, THE PRICE OF FAME, they had united to pull through a scandal of epic proportions. Kate had been outed and had lost her TV anchor job, but Jay was still in the closet. Now, in this sequel, Kate has become the Director of Public Information for the New York state correctional system. She takes some flak for being lesbian, but her relationship with Jay is still not known by anyone outside their circle of friends.

Jay has continued with her journalism career, and at very first all seems well, but very quickly it becomes clear that rocky times are ahead. Not only are there dastardly forces at work behind the scenes that are undermining Kate and her job, but Jay cannot depend on her anonymity being guarded. Then there is a struggle for power at the highest levels of the state and federal government, and certain individuals are willing to sabotage or quite literally dispose of Kate to gain political advantage. Neither Kate nor Jay know how devious and destructive those forces will be, but even though it gradually dawns upon Kate that she is being more than undermined, she is not prepared for the lengths to which desperate men will go. It will take all her physical and emotional strength to get through the disaster that occurs-and Jay will be tested, too.

Author Lynn Ames maintains the excitement of the two women's growing relationship while making sure that the romance and hot love scenes don't derail the action side of the plot. An exciting romantic thriller, THE COST OF COMMITMENT will keep you awake late into the night wondering how Jay and Kate can possibly get out of the mess they find themselves in. Entertaining right up to the last page. ~Lori L.
