OK, so its a little heard of book, I read it in high school (45 years ago) and remember it well to this day. This story had a profound effect on me, the values I held and still have, the relationship I wanted with my father, the sacred reltionship between men and wild things. I think I put my shotgun down after this read, never to point it at a wild goose or a living thing ever again.
Strange, though, how a book can celebrate the conservation of wildlife and treat animal trapping with indifference at the same time. A problematic issue with the book, for me anyway.
Later a Disney movie, "Those Calloways" and not too bad, but certainly not book strength. Brandon Dewilde starred in the film, and soon after died in an auto accident.
Anyway, thanks Paul Annixter, whoever you are.
