Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
The very first time she saw him, she flipped. The very first time he saw her, he ran. That was the second grade, but not much has changed by the seventh. She says: “My Bryce. Still walking around with my very first kiss.” He says: “It’s been six years of strategic avoidance and social discomfort.” But in the eighth grade everything gets turned upside down. And just as he’s thinking there’s more to her than meets the eye, she’s thinking that he’s not quite all he seemed.

This is a classic romantic comedy of errors told in alternating chapters by two fresh, funny new voices. Wendelin Van Draanen is at her best here with a knockout cast of quirky characters and a hilarious series of misunderstandings and missed opportunities. But underlying the humour are two teens in transition. They are each learning to look beyond the surface of people, both figuring out who they are, who they want to be, and who they want to be with.

Amazon.com Review:
Juli Baker devoutly believes in three things: the sanctity of trees (especially her beloved sycamore), the wholesomeness of the eggs she collects from her backyard flock of chickens, and that someday she will kiss Bryce Loski. Ever since she saw Bryce's baby blues back in second grade, Juli has been smitten. Unfortunately, Bryce has never felt the same. Frankly, he thinks Juli Baker is a little weird--after all, what kind of freak raises chickens and sits in trees for fun? Then, in eighth grade, everything changes. Bryce begins to see that Juli's unusual interests and pride in her family are, well, kind of cool. And Juli starts to think that maybe Bryce's brilliant blue eyes are as empty as the rest of Bryce seems to be. After all, what kind of jerk doesn't care about other people's feelings about chickens and trees? With Flipped, mystery author Wendelin Van Draanen has taken a break from her Sammy Keyes series, and the result is flipping fantastic. Bryce and Juli's rants and raves about each other ring so true that teen readers will quickly identify with at least one of these hilarious feuding egos, if not both. A perfect introduction to the adolescent war between the sexes. (Ages 12 to 14) --Jennifer Hubert

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Heartfelt & Sincere...
This is really quite a wonderful book. Though simple in some ways, the story line tugs at the heartstrings and reminds us all of the struggles we face as we grow up. A good book for young men and women alike, each will find the story interesting.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - A great truth about love
This is a darling story of how very first love in those awkward teenager years can work. It's sweet, snappily-if-not-eloquently written, and really manages to get inside the heads of its two characters. That's probably the best thing about it--this is a book that cares passionately about its characters, and that can be rare to see. I enjoyed the switching perspectives, and the li'l misadventures of the kids were fun and adorable. Insightful and clever.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Surprisingly GREAT!
My son received this book a year ago as a reward from his school's learning consultant. He picked it out himself, because of the cute, baby chick on the front. Truthfully, after reading the back cover, I thought it was going to be just that...fluff. Wrong! Although, I only read it so I could help my son with a book report and give us something to discuss besides videogames.

To my surprise, this book was a superior read. The way the story flips from Bryce's view to Juli's (both now in 8th grade) view really makes you see that are always 2 sides to every story.

Overall, the tale is heart-warming and very humorous in sections. It made me want to read a "Flipped 2". I totally recommend this book and "The Thursday Wars" to any 10-14 year old.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - BEST BOOK EVER!!
One day in L.A. I pick a random book from the shelf because my teacher made me, and that random book was flipped. I read the very first page to make her happy then she walked away. I decided to read a few more pages and then I was hooked on that book! I just couldn't put it down!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Flipped
Flipped is a book about a boy and a girl, both of them in junior high. The book flashes back to scenes from their younger days, such as second grade.

A very interesting thing about this story is the point of view. The very first chapter is in Bryce's point of veiw. The second is the same chapter, but in Juli's point of view. At times I found it a bit annoying, just wanting to get on with the story. But I liked having insight on both of their thoughts.

Juli likes Bryce but Bryce finds her annoying and show off-ish. As they get to know each other, Juli starts to find out what Bryce is really like and starts to like him less. But just as she finally learned about how he really was, Bryce did a complete personality "flip" and became a more mature, better person.

I enjoyed reading this book, even though it is not particularly to my tastes, I found myself sympathizing with the characters.
