Product Description:
WILD ANIMALS DON’T SCARE Little Sister. And to show how much she likes them, she’s going to hug them all, from Ape to Zebra, whether they like it or not! A newt, an octopus, a porcupine . . . it’s a slimy, slippery, prickly situation. What will Little Sister hug next? And what kind of trouble will those hugs get her into?
With riotously revolting rhymes and hysterically funny art, kids will be laughing their way from A to Z . . . until all the animals are scared away and there’s only one person left to hug!

We very first borrowed this book from the library and we liked it so much that we rechecked it out. When we finally had to turn it in, we were both disappointed so I bought it here. It is such a good book. It is funny and the rhymes flow easily so it is a quick read too. It is one of my favorite bedtime stories to read to my daughter.

I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THIS ONE BECAUSE WE LOVE 'MY LITTLE SISTER ATE ONE HARE' SO MUCH. HUGGED AN APE IS EVEN MORE ON THE GROSS SIDE, THE PICTURES AREN'T QUITE AS GOOD AS THE OTHER BOOK & THE WORDS DON'T ROLL OFF YOUR TONGUE LIKE THEY DO WITH ATE ONE HARE. MOST BOYS WOULD PROBABLY REALLY ENJOY THIS BOOK ANYWAY.

This one is a 6 out of 5 in terms of creativity. I love the rollicking, rhyming verse punctuated by "My sister's on a hugging spree". And, the ending is 100% perfect. The illustrations are wonderfully funny and perfectly matching with the tone of the text.
The only downside and this is a minor personal preference is that it is a tiny bit gross in some of its humour with bugs crawling in noses, etc However, this hasn't stopped me from reading it.
Kudos to the author for his originality!

Sequel to My Little Sister Ate One Hare, this book follows the same basic format: rollicking, lively rhyme, fun illustrations, and ridiculous plot. It follows the once-omnivorous, now hug-iferous sister through hugging episodes with animals from a (ape) to z (zebra). The vivid, action-packed illustrations are a riot and would work well for both classroon read-aloud and read-alone sessions. My Little Sister Hugged an Ape is so much fun that even the most reluctant readers will be inspired to follow along with the adventure
