Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Unnecessary Sequel!!
I really wish they'd stop making sequels of movies from long ago. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Clerks II, Rambo, Rocky Balboa, Hannibal Rising, etc. It's nice to relive those old movies as they were and let the characters fade into the legendary status they deserve. By coming out with yet another movie N years later, you might get excited about it (Hulk comes to mind, as does Spider-Man). But unlike those decently made films, Live Free Or Die Hard is a great example of keeping the classics in the past where they belong.

I loved the Die Hard series. The very first 3 movies were great! The 3rd being my favorite. But this newest (and HOPEFULLY last) installment is just unnecessary. Nobody wanted to see John McClain again, more than 10 years after his last adventure in NYC. This movie might as well have been another movie completely, taking McClain out of it and just substituting Bruce Willis' character for anyone else...it wouldn't have made a difference.

The storyline was great, ALMOST believable. But most of the particular scenes were just completely unreal. Throughout most of the movie I was screaming at the screen "there's no way that would happen!" Particularly the action sequences with Bruce Willis barely making it out of a situation. Not to mention that he looked awful with a shaved head. Why can't men go bald gracefully??

If you think of it as anything BUT a Die Hard movie, you might enjoy it. I just can't add this to my already mint collection.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Bruce at it again
Bruce Willis is at it again in the fourth entry of the "Die Hard" movies.
To be brief. Some things are done excellently,,,such as dialog and of course the stunts. But as with anything when trying to up the ante for the fourth time some things are not up to excellence. Some of the characters and some of the situations are blah blah.
Bottom line...a good movie to own, and see over again.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Your basic sequel but as good as the original!
This movie is another in a line of sequels to Die Hard. This movie could continue with as many sequels as they want and I would watch them. Bruce Willis is HOT! I love him when he is dirty and sweaty. He is a believable common man hero. He doesn't go through mud and dirt and fighting and in the subsequent scene be squeaky clean. The price is great and I was pleased with the unrated version.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Die Hard - ok
All of you are taking this movie way too seriously. Its an ACTION movie. Not a documentary. Did you actually expect that you were going to gain some inspiring, intellectual knowledge from watching this movie? Lighten up! Its supposed to be entertaining and implausible. And yes, all 4 of these Die Hard movies have implausible scenarios. I guess none of you are big fans of Jason Bourne or James Bond, huh? I thought it was entertaining. And while I'm not a computer geek, I didn't find the computer jargon to be all that complicated to understand and it was minimal at best.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - An Entertaining but Over the Top Action Movie
Live Free Or Die Hard is the epidemy of a summer action movie. Explosions, car crashes, cursing, and absurd over the top stunts are all here in spades. Not paticularly thought provoking or realisitc but enjoyable nonetheless. I'm a big fan of the other Die Hard movies due to there incredible action sequences, memorable characters, and direction. My major qualm with this movie wasn't the over the top action. But the characterizations. I couldn't believe that these computer nerds would have the motivation or Indignation to pull off a an attack of this magnitude. And Thomas Gabriel was the least intimidating villian in the Die Hard series yet. I also felt Bruce Willis's potryal of John McClane lacked the charisma and energy that made him so likeable in the previous Die Hard films. While I understand the grisled, jaded vet approach to the character. He just ended up looking bored to me.

I can appreciate the fact that internet security is increasingly important to people and internet terrorism is a real possibility. And this movie confronts the issue. I just wish it would've done it in a more believable manner. While I didn't find this movie bad or unwatchable by any means. I felt it lacked the substance and believability the past films had. But simply as a pop corn popper it'll have you on the edge of your seat through out as long as you suspend your disbelief and get past the characterizations.
