One of the things I had to face in retirement moving to my new adopted state, Virginia, was that there would be no more Browns' games every Sunday on TV. As a life long resident of Ohio until a couple years back, all the Ohio teams were on the tube constantly. No more.
However, I kept my subscription to SI and this special issue from SI is more than its dollar value would show. My college years were all spent at The Ohio State University, plus I worked for SOHIO/BP for many years being in and out of Cleveland at home office from 1967 through 1993. Many of my work associates and friends still live in the Cleveland municipal area and I can remember no better fans of sports than these midwestern folks. And my wife's son lives in the North Canton area very close to the Football Hall of Fame. Though we reside in Virginia due to love we also still love those Ohio teams.
And thanks to SI many of those memories can be found within this magazine.

There's no better fan than a Cleveland fan! And if you are, no matter what sport (or all), you will love this issue. It celebrates the good times and the "almosts". Being a Browns and Indians fan my whole life, and now living on the East Coast, this was a must have. My favorite section was the "faces" and stories of the fans. I identified with all of them, and they were all really touching. For some of them, I cried all over again. It's good to know we're all out there in support of each other and our team, no matter what, and that's what it really means to be a Cleveland fan.
