Product Description:
Sports agent Myron Bolitar is poised on the edge of the big time. So is Christian Steele, a rookie quarterback and Myron's prized client. But when Christian gets a phone call from a former girlfriend, a woman who everyone, including the police, believes is dead, the deal starts to go sour. Trying to unravel the truth about a family's tragedy, a woman's secret, and a man's lies, Myron is up against the dark side of his business—where image and talent make you rich, but the truth can get you killed.
In novels that crackle with wit and suspense, Edgar Award winner Harlan Coben has created one of the most fascinating and complex heroes in suspense fiction—Myron Bolitar—a hotheaded, tenderhearted sports agent who grows more and more engaging and unpredictable with each page-turning appearance.

I have read most of Harlan's other books, but this was my very first Myron Bolitar one. I decided to start from the beginning. What a great series! I love Myron, Win, and their great humor. I am also a huge sports fan so the character of sports agent is great too.
I would say that Myron Bolitar books are just as good as Coben's other books, but they have a less somber/serious mood. Myron and Win keep it more fun, but the mysteries are just as great. I can't wait to read the rest of them!

This is the very first in the series by Harlen Coben about sports agent Myron Bolitar.
The novels follow the happenings of professional sports agent who moonlights as a private detective. With the help of his friend "Win" who is an absolutely adorable sociopath (if there ever was such a thing) along with a cast of other characters that make each novel better than the last.
In this you will find entertaining and witty dialogue as well as valid sports references. For the sports fan that also loves a little bit of suspense this is a must have.
Again, it is the very first in a series. I am book 4 and haven't found one yet that I didn't like.

I enjoy many genres but smart, dry humour is always wonderful; mix in a great plot and brilliant characters and I am hooked. The Myron Bolitar series is up there with that other NJ centered Stephanie Plum Series in my book of great "books"; they are different, sure but still enjoyable with a poignant depth to their characters and plot lines.

All the hallmarks of H.Coben are here: the plot is simply superb, the delivery is annoying but this time without extremes, the clowns are still bulletproof.

I very first started reading the Myron Bolitar series a few years back when I found this book in a bargain bin at a local bookstore. I fell in love with the series. The characters are flawed just like all of us which makes it easy for me to relate to them. Myron and his cohorts always seem to get themselves involved in situations that most of us couldn't even imagine--and always find a way out of them while making you laugh hysterically! I definitely recommend this book and the others in the series! You won't be disappointed!
