I took this book to read on a plane ride, thinking it would be a great way to pass the time. I was immediately drawn into a fast-paced tale with a strong female lead; adventure and intrigue with a generous helping of romance. Each new character evolving into a favourite, with the tension surrounding both the story and the character development keeping me riding high throughout.
This book promises to be the beginning of an exciting new series, and I look very forward to the subsequent missive. If you enjoy books like the Merry Gentry Series by Laurell K Hamilton, or just have a love for romantic Science Fiction/Fantasy based in the world as we know it (or how it could end up), then this book is for you!

This book creates an entire believable alien culture and weaves an exciting tale of an invasion of earth- with a difference. Not all of the aliens are bad guys. This book should become a classic. My only regret is, as an author myself, I didn't write it. On a scale of one to five I rate it a six!

Before reading D.L. Main's, "The Chosen One," my expectations were low. I'd been a fan of sci-fi for many years but of late, much of the new sci-fi is too high-tech for my interest. Not so with "The Chosen One." The very first few pages grabbed me and I hated to put the book down, as her pages came alive before my eyes. D.L. Mains places her story in a situation that could become a reality. To doubt the existence of alien life forms in other universes would be a blatant waste of real estate.
The book opens with an alien invasion that is worldwide, but centers upon a segment of Long Island, New York. This is the center of the resistance movement led by Commander Jesse and a large group of stalwart, brave men and women, combatting the loss of a freedom long fought for centuries before. The unexpected happens as the heroine commander is captured and falls in love with the most sensual alien I have had the pleasure to meet. He is the disposed King of his dying world, usurped by the evil Gar and his followers. It was their idea to conquer the earth as their new home and the king is happy to find Commander Jesse, hoping her group will join with him to regain his title and his people.
Will King Davros and Commander Jesse with combined forces, be able to defeat the rebellious invaders? Can a steamy romance overcome innate racial prejudice against a race of aliens similar to humans, yet not human? Read this fast-paced novel to discover if love can conquer greed and tyranny, as people of two different worlds join as one.
